UNIPD (http://robotics.dei.unipd.it). The Dept. of Information Engineering (DEI) is a leading center for education, research and technological development in the area of robotics, computer science, electronics, quantum physics, automatic control, photonics, telecommunications, and bioengineering. The Intelligent Autonomous System Laboratory (IAS-Lab), established in 1999 at DEI, operates in the field of autonomous robotics systems research. IAS-Lab has developed a long-term experience in mobile robotics, in real-time robot vision algorithms, and has recently entered into the digital manufacturing research area. At present, the aim is to realize a technological transfer towards industrial application of the machine vision algorithm and the robot programming techniques developed at academic level.

UNIPD is a Research member of ITRXcell Challenger Team. UniPD will develop the robot learning system and the people tracking and detection system of the cell. The members of this Project can use the IAS-Lab facilities, among which there are an anthropomorphic manipulator, wheeled and legged autonomous robotic platforms and a sophisticated vision sensors network including 2D and 3D cameras.

UNIPD has been coordinating the European Project called “Thermobot” (FoF FP7 284607) and a number of national research projects in the field of autonomous robotics. UNIPD is also a partner in the “3D Complete” European Project (FP7-SME-2010-1 262009), whose aim is to develop a system for low cost, three-dimensional completeness inspection and in the “FibreMap” (FoF.NMP.2013-10) for visual inspection of carbon fibre sheet.
