As the manufacturer of two world-famous brands, Peugeot and Citroën, the Group PSA Peugeot Citroën is in 2013 the second largest European automotive manufacturer and the 9th largest in the world measured by unit production. Present in over 160 countries, the PSA Group sells more than a fourth of its production outside Western Europe. While PSA Group has worldwide production sites, the central office of Vélizy, France, is where future products are designed and associated production systems are created and optimized. The advanced manufacturing team plays a central role in the definition of future production lines and always seeks for technologies to improve the production plants.
PSA is the end-user in the NimbRo Logistics Team and brings in its expertise in automotive logistics and factory automation. It provided the use case and will be responsible for requirement analysis of sequencing and kitting and the definition of evaluation procedures and performance criteria. PSA will also be responsible for construction of the test environment to demonstrate the free style task at the DLR Robotics and Mechatronics Center, as well as the setup of a suitable test environment at a PSA plant.
PSA Robotic division has a long experience in the development and integration of complex robotic systems including innovative robotic technologies for industrial applications. Recent research focused on the implementation of human-like robotic systems (dual-arm industrial robots, perception capabilities, enhanced manipulation) and safe robotics for human/robot collaboration. PSA has also a significant expertise in the field of standardization of robotic systems and as such, participates in several efforts and initiatives aiming to provide guidelines for the integration of complex cognitive and robotic systems. French open innovation project : ICARO (Industrial Cooperative Assistant Robot): use case provider for automation of RZPPA assembly line using collaborative robots; FP7 Robotics Project “STAMINA - Sustainable and Reliable Robotics for Part Handling in Manufacturing Automation”: End User for Kitting with a mobile manipulation robot.
