Adrián Valenzuela is Industrial Engineer by University of Alfonso X since 2009. He acquired his knowledge and experience in robotics and automation working as design and manufacturing engineer for several aerospace companies. He is now involved in national and EU projects of the Advanced manufacturing Department of PRODINTEC.
Fernando Berenguer received the B.S. degree in Physics in 1993 from the University of Cantabria and the Advanced Studies Diploma in 2002 from the Polytechnic University of Madrid. He is currently working for the Electronics Department of PRODINTEC. His experience and publications are centred in wireless communications, sensor systems, non-holonomic robotic systems, biped robots and industrial robots.
Luis Pérez is Telecommunication Engineer by University of Oviedo since 2008. He has been working as researcher in the field of machine vision (algorithms and industrial applications) for the University of Oviedo. He is author of several scientific publications related to artificial vision. He is currently working in Inspection and Processes Engineering Department of PRODINTEC, where he is involved as technical partner and main responsible in national and EU projects about machine vision and robotics.
PRODINTEC has already participated in several research projects at both national and international level related to the development of inspection systems for quality control, robot guidance and industrial security, such as:
- VALERI (FP7, in progress): development of a new mobile and autonomous movement robot to help workers in the assembly of aerospace components. PRODINTEC is working on a 3D vision system for part identification and localization which provides information for generating the paths of the mobile
robot using point clouds.
- 3D Complete (FP7): efficient 3D completeness inspection. PRODINTEC was responsible of the control unit and the mark detection algorithms to create the 3D model. FLEXSORT (MANUNET): automation of the packaging process of little toys. PRODINTEC worked on the mechatronic system of the bin picking application based on machine vision.
- Light-Rolls (FP7): pilot line for the roll-to-roll manufacture of electronic components at micro-level on flexible polymeric substrates. PRODINTEC has developed several modules of the line, such as the pick and place robot.
- Mill2Matic (INNPACTO, in progress): robotic systems development as an alternative to the machine tool. PRODINTEC is designing and developing the control (HW and SW).
- COMPITEM2 (INNPACTO, in progress): development for industrial competitiveness in the productive stages of life of the metal-mechanic sector environment. PRODINTEC in working on a vision system for people detection in risk areas.
At customer level, PRODINTEC is encouraged into the development of UAVs with military government companies. All these projects are related with the technologies of the challenge.
PRODINTEC’s team is integrated by multidisciplinary engineers from mechatronics, telecommunications, industrial organization and manufacturing areas and complemented by scholarships with advanced studies in Automation Engineering and Industrial Computing. They will contribute with their experience and knowledge in robotics, machine vision, algorithmics, optimization processes, 3D reconstruction, mechatronics ... to achieve the challenge.
