EuRoC Final @ Automatica 2018

Looking back after participating to the intensive four-day event of the Automatica Fair 2018, the last step of the EuRoC journey reloads the image of a big robotics and automation exhibition wherein the massive presence of robots in our lives is increasingly perceived and smoothly accepted.

The six finalist challenger teams showcasing their use cases in booth B4.417 have been the symbol of the fruitful networking between research and industry, which meant the connection with all the stakeholders of the value chain: technology providers, system integrators and, above all, end-users.

Reporting the concepts expressed during the Award Ceremony by Dr. Juha Heikkilä, Head of the Robotics Unit in DG-Connect and Dr. Bernd Liepert, Chief Innovation Officer of the KUKA group and President of the European robotics association euRobotics aisbl, EuRoC has demonstrated how, thanks to European funding, it is indeed possible to bridge the gap between innovation and application in connection with basic research and beyond. Furthermore, the project has effectively shown how the model of the challenge and competition can facilitate technology transfer from academia and research to industry and development.

Bruno Siciliano, has explained to all the journalists in the room the essence of the biggest project on the challenge ever funded in Europe.
